The Office of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is launching a redesigned website (at reid.senate.gov) featuring a sleek new look with more transparency tools and better accessibility. The redesign process was governed by three key principles: 1) More dynamic, shareable, real-time content on the homepage; 2) Simplified, cleaner navigation for citizens to find the content they’re looking for; 3) User-friendly customized WordPress content management system to allow staff to easily post content. The site will feature a first-of-its-kind VoteTracker, allowing citizens to monitor Senator Reid’s legislative agenda and his most recent votes. The redesigned site includes the most robust Spanish-language website on the Hill (at reid.senate.gov/espanol).
VoteTracker: Get a snapshot of the latest votes in the Senate, see how Senator Reid voted, and learn more about the relevant legislation.
Featured stories: The homepage showcases three featured tiles to reflect the most newsworthy or popular posts on the site. In the event of breaking news, the website allows us to easily reconfigure the homepage to feature just one large graphic in the place of the three featured tiles.
Social media sharing: You can now view updates from the Senator’s Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube channels right from the homepage. You can also share blog posts directly with your friends and family via social networks and email.
Multimedia content: The homepage now includes a video gallery of Senator Reid’s latest statements and addresses, as well as a gallery of photos from his latest events.
Integrated design: The website has a new branded look which will be replicated across the Senator’s social media platforms.
Responsive design: The site is now easily readable from a wide range of devices, from smartphones to desktop computers.
En español: With the upgrade of the Spanish-language version of the site, Sen. Reid’s Spanish-language site is the most robust on the Hill, with the greatest amount of original Spanish-language content available.
