Reid Stands Up For Seniors And Their Doctors

 Reid greets Nevada seniors

Senator Harry Reid this week stood up for Nevada seniors and military families  by pushing for the passage of legislation that ensures doctors who treat Medicare patients continue to be fairly compensated for caring for our parents and grandparents. Doctor compensation was scheduled to drop by 23 percent on December 1, but Reid fought to keep these cuts from happening so that doctors are still able to see Nevada’s seniors. This bill is even more important for rural Nevadans who may have a limited number of doctors that treat Medicare patients.

Reid has also supported programs to create more medical residencies for doctors to work in geriatrics and other high demand specializations for Medicare patients. This extension of the “doctors fix” will last until the new year. Senator Reid is working with leaders from both parties to address the problem before 2011, ensuring doctors the pay they deserve and seniors security in their health care.
