Today Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen testified in the Senate Armed Services Committee on the results of a study on 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' released by the Pentagon earlier this week. Senator Reid reaffirmed his stance on the repeal of the policy and intends to bring it before the Senate floor for another vote. The study showed that active military members and their families believe that repealing the law would increase morale of all soldiers as well as improve combat readiness. Senator Reid believes that the current policy is flawed and that this study is just another example of the change in policy that is required.

Senator Harry Reid continues to stand with the LGBT community in their efforts to end the discriminatory 'Don’t Ask Don’t Tell' policy. Senator Reid has repeatedly called for a repeal of 'Don’t Ask Don’t Tell' due to his strong belief that any American who wants to defend our country will be able to do so. Senator Reid has a great appreciation for every person who is willing to sacrifice and serve our country in the military, regardless of their sexual orientation.
