Posted by Sen. Reid's Staff on 1/13/2011 - 12:46 PM The Las Vegas Sun recently reported that visitors to Las Vegas increased by nearly 30,000 visitors in November 2010 compared to the previous year. November was the ninth straight month of visitor growth in 2010, said the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA).
Senator Reid has worked to ensure that Nevada’s cities remain the top tourist destinations in the world. In 2009 with bipartisan support he successfully led passage of the Travel Promotion Act. It created a corporation, modeled on the LVCVA, to globally market Nevada’s well-known resort cities like Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe as top tourist destinations, increasing demand for hotel rooms and flights to these cities. Senator Reid has always fought for tourism jobs including ensuring the completion of City Center. Saving City Center ensured 10,000 construction jobs and an additional 12,000 permanent jobs in its hotels and casinos. |
