Reid announces 500 construction jobs with new Las Vegas bus line

Over two years later, the Economic Recovery Act is still putting Nevadans back to work. Yesterday, I joined Federal Transit Administrator Peter Rogoff, RTC General Manager Jacob Snow, and city and county leaders to break ground on the new RTC Sahara Express Line in Las Vegas, a new bus line that will create 500 construction jobs by taking advantage of Recovery Act funding.

Not only will this project create hundreds of good paying jobs, but the new bus line will spur badly needed economic growth and development in the city.

The Sahara Express line will provide dedicated transit lanes along much of Sahara Avenue from Hualapai Way in the west to Boulder Highway in the East. The project will also feature solar powered transit shelters, which will continue to help our state produce clean energy, and ticket vending machines, elevated station platforms, and new traffic signals along Sahara.

While there is still work to be done, this is exactly the kind of initiative we need to continue creating jobs and getting our state's economy back on track.
