Nevada Senator Harry Reid today spoke at the graduation of the Fall 2010 Page Class. In his remarks he recognized the four Nevada pages that he sponsored: Parker Rich, Tessa McGinnis and Kelsey Kincaid from Henderson, and Erika Marchesini from Lovelock. These high school juniors have spent the last semester attending school in Washington and working in the U.S. Senate. "Senators and staff will tell you how thankful for you they are," said Reid. "You've earned it: You've been professional and responsible. A lot has been asked of you, and you've answered."

For more than 100 years, messengers known as Pages have served the United States Congress. Pages are appointed and sponsored by a member of Congress and must be high school juniors and at least sixteen years old. Senate Page duties consist primarily of delivery of correspondence and legislative material within the Congressional complex. Other duties include preparing the chamber for Senate sessions, and carrying bills and amendments to the desk. Pages also attend classes in the early morning at the United States Senate Page School. The Page School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
