Nevada Senator Harry Reid today praised the withdrawal of the license application for Yucca Mountain by the Obama administration. The Department of Energy today filed to withdraw the application, effectively ending any chance of a nuclear repository being opened in Nevada. The filing was made with prejudice, meaning that future administrations cannot attempt to file for a license for Yucca Mountain. "We've worked for this for decades. We knew it was coming," said Reid. "Yucca Mountain's license application was finally withdrawn today. This is great news for our state."
