In recognition of August as National Immunization Month, Nevada Senator Harry Reid today discussed the importance of immunizing children before school starts this fall. "Immunizations prevent many diseases and deaths, making them one of the most effective public safety tools that exist," said Reid. The health care reform law that Reid helped to pass this year eliminates co-pays, deductibles and coinsurance for recommend vaccines in new plans, making it easier than ever for Nevadans to get important vaccinations. This law also ensures that beginning in 2011, seniors can receive vaccines without cost-sharing.
