Nevada Senator Harry Reid today discussed a Treasury Department report that says between the months of February and June of this year, nearly 70,000 Nevadans have been hired by companies that benefit from the HIRE Act. As a result of this legislation, businesses that hire workers who have been unemployed for more than 60 days qualify for tax breaks. For example, the online travel company Expedia announced in June that it will hire an additional 130 Nevadans to work in their Las Vegas office, and DW Bistro in Las Vegas hired two dozen unemployed workers. "I am looking to build on the successes of the HIRE Act by reducing taxes and improving access to capital for small businesses in the Small Business Jobs Bill that we're working on in the Senate this week," said Reid.
