Nevada Senator Harry Reid discussed Senate passage of legislation that will protect the jobs of teachers in Nevada and provide funding for Medicaid recipients. The Education Jobs Fund is projected to bring $83 million to Nevada schools to keep teachers working, and $79 million in Medicaid funds to ensure that the state's 160,000 Medicaid recipients have access to quality, affordable care. This funding will help prevent a budget shortfall that could lead to further layoffs.
