Nevada Senator Harry Reid today announced the appointment of Deputy U.S. Marshal Richard "Joe" Gardner to the Law Enforcement Congressional Badge of Bravery Board. This award was established by Congress to recognize law enforcement officers who were injured while performing an act of bravery in the line of duty. The Board is administered by the U.S. Department of Justice and will review and select recipients for this prestigious award. “If anyone knows what bravery is, Joe Gardner does,” Reid said. “Last year during the Las Vegas federal building shooting, Joe valiantly put his life on the line to protect innocent civilians. Joe will be an important addition to this board and all Nevadans should be proud of his service.”
