Senator Harry Reid continued his fight for Nevada Thursday, putting down attacks from Senate Republicans over the Medicaid deal he has struck for the state.  “We’ve had some come from the other side of the aisle the last few days saying they don’t care about Nevadans hurting,” said Reid. “They seem to want me to apologize for helping my constituents who are struggling. I’m never going to apologize for helping the people of Nevada.” Amid some senators' attacks against Nevada, Tennessee Republican Lamar Alexander gave Reid credit for leveraging his position as Majority Leader to deliver for the Silver State.

Last week, Reid secured a deal with Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus to give Nevada and three other states hit hard by the recession 100 percent funding for the proposed Medicaid expansion in the Senate health care bill.
