The Senate voted today to begin debate on legislation that would provide common-sense protection from unsafe food. Prior to the vote, Nevada Senator Harry Reid spoke of the need to impose tough new standards on food producers. "I talk to Nevadans like Rylee Gustafson of Henderson and Linda Rivera of Las Vegas, who have endured terrible illnesses and unspeakable pain because they consumed unsafe food," said Reid. "Today, we are one step closer to ensuring that millions of families in Nevada and across the nation will be spared from this preventable harm.”
