As the U.S. Senate began debating its health insurance reform bill today, Nevada Senator Harry Reid discussed how the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will benefit Nevada's senior citizens. This bill will lower premiums for Nevada's 328,000 Medicare beneficiaries through a number of key reforms, including the reduction of Medicare's overpayments to private plans and by cutting in half the brand-name drug costs for 58,200 Nevada seniors in the Medicare Part D "donut hole." "This is a very good bill -- it saves lives, saves money and saves Medicare," said Reid.
