Nevada Senator Harry Reid today discussed the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) cancellation of an exercise originally planned to take place in Las Vegas.  After learning of the planned exercise in November, Reid sent a letter to the Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, urging her to reconsider the plan. Reid, along with many members of the Las Vegas business and tourism community, cited the unacceptable level of damage this exercise would have on southern Nevada’s economy just as we are beginning to see some signs of improvement. “I look forward to working with Secretary Napolitano and FEMA in the future to ensure our first responders have every resource and opportunity they need to prepare for, and respond to, such an event," said Reid.
