Nevada Senator Harry Reid today discussed the benefit the Senate’s health insurance reform bill will have on small businesses in Nevada. Small businesses make up 70 percent of Nevada’s businesses and only 49 percent of them offered health coverage benefits to their employees in 2008.  That’s why Reid worked to include a small business tax credit that could make premiums more affordable for 24,000 small businesses in Nevada. "As a result of this bill, insurance companies won't be able to play games with small businesses any longer," said Reid. The Senator added that these businesses would be exempt from any employer responsibility provisions.
