December 20, 2010 Washington, D.C.—Nevada Senator Harry Reid today released the following statement as the 422nd Expeditionary Signal Battalion of the Nevada National Guard began a 12-month deployment to Afghanistan to improve tactical communications for forces on the ground. This is the largest deployment ever of the Nevada National Guard Signal Corps. “I am grateful to the more than 350 brave men and women of the Nevada National Guard who are deploying to Afghanistan today. Their dedication and sacrifice to our country and our state is humbling. I remain committed to ensuring all of our Citizen-Soldiers and the families they leave behind have the resources and support they deserve. My thoughts are with them as they begin their mission.” Representatives from Reid’s office attended a ceremony as the battalion mobilized for their mission. ###
