I couldn’t be more pleased this week to mark the one-year anniversary of the USO Lounge opening at McCarran Airport. A year ago we finally provided a comfortable place to rest for hundreds of thousands of service members and their families traveling through McCarran each year.

I’ve worked with the USO since 2007 to designate and create the space at McCarran because our military heroes deserve the very best. I worked closely with many people, especially Wayne Newton, to make this a reality, and in August 2010 I toured the lounge as it neared completion (see video below).

Las Vegas knows how to welcome its guests unlike anyone in the world, and that warm welcome now extends to those who deserve it the most. We must always support our brave men and women in uniform at every turn because of the sacrifices they make for us each day.
