Reid Statement on Nevada Cheese Recall

December 21, 2010

Washington, DC - Today, Nevada Senator Harry Reid issued the following statement after learning that cheese being sold by Whole Foods Market in Nevada, California, Washington and Washington, D.C., that came from its supplier, Sally Jackson Cheese of Oroville, Washington is being recalled:

“This is the second cheese recall in Nevada in as many months and just more proof that the food safety legislation passed by Congress is necessary to protect dinner tables across the state.  This groundbreaking legislation will help stop contaminated food from every reaching the grocery store to begin with and ensure that dangerous products that do can be immediately recalled.”

At the end of November, Bravo Cheese was recalled from Costco stores in Nevada.
