Washington, DC -- Nevada Senator Harry Reid yesterday met with more than 50 students and chaperones from Las Vegas and Henderson schools on the steps of the United States Capitol. Senator Reid welcomed middle school students from The Adelson Education Campus in Sumerlin and elementary school students from the J. Marlan Walker International School in Henderson as they visited Washington, D.C. 

“I was pleased to welcome these impressive young Nevadans during their trip to our nation's capitol,” Reid said. "I've always believed that education must go beyond the classroom and visiting Washington is a terrific way to learn about the history of our country and our unique system of government.  We must work together to ensure that all Nevada's students have the resources and opportunities they need to succeed.”

The Adelson Education Campus, located in Summerlin, was founded in 1980 with the support of Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson. The campus is the only Jewish educational center offering classes from 18 months through 12th grade in Nevada. The Adelson Educational Campus is composed of three schools: The Milton I. Schwartz Hebrew Academy (Grades Pre-K- 4^th), The Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson Middle School

The J. Marlan Walker International School in Henderson, is a Clark County public elementary school that serves nearly 900 students in grades Pre-K–5.  The students visited as part of the G.A.T.E (gift and talented education) program.
