January 5, 2008 Washington, D.C. -- U.S. Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign issued the following statement following a conference call involving multiple federal, state and local agencies regarding the levee break in Fernley, Nevada. "Our conversation with these federal and state organizations was extremely helpful. During the call, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) committed to conducting a damage assessment report on Monday. This report will be used by FEMA to determine the level of assistance the agency will be able to provide to the community, businesses and individual property owners. This is encouraging news during what has been a very difficult day in Nevada’s history. We will continue working together to ensure the community gets all the resources it needs." ###
