Reid, Ensign Announce More Than $8 Million For Job Creating Highway Projects

Funds heading to Clark, Nye, and Washoe Counties

January 6, 2010

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Nevada Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign today announced more than $8 million for job-creating highway projects. These funds will go toward the following:

• Improvements to the Pyramid Lake Highway Corridor in Sparks
• Extension of Starr Road to Saint Rose Parkway and Henderson Starr Road Interchange at I-15
• Additional travel lanes in each direction on SR 160 from Las Vegas Blvd. to Rainbow Blvd, connecting Las Vegas and Pahrump
• Design and construction of system-to-system interchanges, linking the 215 Beltway to I-15 in the north, US 95 in the north, and the Airport Connector.

“This funding will create good-paying jobs for Nevadans as we work to improve transportation in our state,” Reid said. “From reducing congestion on the Pyramid Lake Highway Corridor to improving travel from Las Vegas to Pahrump, these are important funds for our state.”

“As we move forward with creating jobs throughout our state, this project will serve as a great step in that direction,” said Ensign.  “The project will also reduce traffic congestion and improve travel from Las Vegas to Pahrump.”
