Reid Statement on Andre Agassi

January 20, 2011

Washington, DC Senator Reid released the following statement after the International Tennis Hall of Fame announced its intention to induct Las Vegas native Andre Agassi:

“I congratulate Andre Agassi, whose extraordinary accomplishments on the court include eight Grand Slams and an Olympic gold medal, for his induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Yet despite his tremendous success as a tennis player, he’s never forgotten his home town of Las Vegas, where he opened a charter school to help young Nevadans of all backgrounds and has funded scholarships for so many students.  Andre Agassi is an inspiration to all Nevada’s student-athletes and I’m pleased that his hard work and excellence is being recognized with the highest honor an athlete can receive.”
