Washington,
DC
– Nevada Senator Harry Reid made the following
statement in recognition of the Chinese New Year.
“The Chinese New Year is an important holiday that
appropriately reflects the tradition and culture of the Chinese people. From
the bright decorations to the cheerful greetings, the Chinese New Year is a time
to ring in a year filled with prosperity, joy and
accomplishment.
“Southern Nevada has
one of the fastest growing Asian populations in the country and it is one that
adds cultural and economic diversity to our state. As you celebrate the New
Year, I hope some of the traits of those born in the Year of the Ox -
leadership, dependability, loyalty and organization, translate to future
success.
“I offer my best wishes for a happy Chinese New Year and hope
that this year, the Year of the Ox, will bring many more celebrations to the
Asian community.”
