Washington, DC— Nevada Senator Harry Reid today announced the renewal of a U.S. Department of Commerce grant of $189,000 for Nevada Industry Excellence, an essential program working directly with Nevada companies to strengthen their global competitiveness and create jobs by providing information, decision support and implementation assistance in adopting new, more advanced technologies, techniques and best business practices.

“The extension of this grant program will help give more Nevada businesses the tools to compete in the global economy and put people back to work,” Reid said. “As our state continues recover, we must do everything we can to support the industries that are so important to Nevada’s economic vitality, such as mining, construction, clean energy and manufacturing.”

Nevada Industry Excellence is Nevada’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership under the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Manufacturing Extension Partnership program.  NIE has provided business and technical solutions to Nevada’s industrial community since 1995.  NIE offers cost-effective solutions for top-line growth and operational efficiency to small and medium-sized manufacturing business, and the mining and construction industry in Nevada.
