Cadish was recommended by Reid to serve as federal judge February 16, 2012 Washington, D.C.— Nevada Senator Harry Reid today announced that Judge Elissa Cadish has been nominated by President Obama to serve as a federal judge for the U.S. District Court, District of Nevada, in Las Vegas. Cadish has more than two decades of legal experience, and she currently serves as a judge in Nevada’s Eighth Judicial District Court. Senator Reid has worked throughout his career to increase the number of women serving on the federal bench in Nevada. “Elissa Cadish is a highly respected legal mind who has earned the esteem of litigants, practitioners, and her colleagues as a judge in Nevada’s Eighth Judicial District Court,” Reid said. “Cadish has served Nevadans with distinction, and throughout her career she has exhibited integrity, thoughtfulness, and fairness. I am confident she will bring those qualities to the bench and make an outstanding federal judge. I look forward to her swift confirmation.” After earning her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, Cadish began her legal career in Nevada as a clerk for the Hon. Philip M. Pro in Nevada District Court, whose seat she will fill if she is confirmed. Before serving the people of Nevada as a judge, Cadish worked in private practice and focused on commercial litigation and employment law. ###
