Reid's work to fully fund payment-in-leiu-of-taxes strengthens rural Nevada March 10, 2009 Washington, DC – Nevada Senator Harry Reid met today with the Nevada Association of Counties, the state branch of the National Association of Counties. The National Association of Counties named Senator Reid their “Legislator of the Year” for his work on Payment-In-Lieu-of-Taxes and the Secure Rural Schools program. Because of Reid’s efforts Nevada’s counties will receive $130 million in new funding. These funds will help keep teachers, police, road crews, and many others working in our communities. The President of the National Association of Counties, Don Stapley, presented Reid with the award. Present were the county commissioners of Washoe, Pershing, Storey, Douglas, Elko and Churchill Counties.
