Washington, D.C. - Nevada Senator Harry Reid issued the following statement after Nevada’s unemployment rate dropped to 12.7 percent in January:

“Nevada’s economy is slowly showing signs of improvement, but more work must be done to help Nevadans still struggling to find a job.  Creating good-paying jobs for Nevadans is my top priority in Congress.   With job-creating transportation programs set to expire at the end of the month, the House should take up the Senate's bipartisan transportation bill and pass it as soon as they return. The jobs of many Nevadans depend on these programs, and they cannot afford for Republicans to turn the Senate’s bipartisan legislation into yet another partisan battle. As I’ve said repeatedly, not everything should be a knock-down, drag out fight, and I hope my Republican colleagues will make the responsible choice to help put Nevadans back to work.”
