Reid Issues Call To Action On 2010 Census

On conference call with community leaders, Reid encourages Nevadans to participate in the Census

March 16, 2010

Washington, D.C.—
Nevada Senator Harry Reid today held a conference call with Nevada leaders to discuss the importance of participation in the 2010 Census by all Nevadans.  For each person who goes uncounted in the Census, Nevada would lose $917 per person, per year, over the next 10 years.  Reid issued a call to action to Nevadans to not only complete their Census forms, but also to encourage their friends, families, co-workers and neighbors to do the same.

“The Census is too important for Nevadans to not participate.  We need to get the word out,” Reid said. “Because the Census only comes up every 10 years many Nevadans don’t know what it’s about. Getting an accurate count of the number of people living in Nevada will ensure that our state receives proper representation in Congress and its fair share of federal funding over the next decade.”
