March 30, 2012 Washington, D.C.- Nevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement after Nevada's unemployment rate fell to 12.3 percent in February: "I am encouraged Nevada is slowly showing signs of recovery, but more needs to be done to create jobs and get Nevadans back to work. The bipartisan Senate transportation bill is the most immediate job creating measure before Congress. I urge House Republicans to take up this measure and pass it soon after they return from their recess. The short-term extension that we passed yesterday averted a halt in these programs, but the responsible thing to do is pass the bipartisan Senate bill that will support 12,800 Nevada jobs and allow funding for the crucial interstate between Las Vegas and Phoenix. I will continue to work with my colleagues on common-sense measures that will grow our economy and help middle-class families." ###
