Washington, D.C. – Nevada Senator Harry Reid issued the following statement after the Labor Department announced the economy added 120,000 jobs in March, and the unemployment rate dropped to 8.2 percent.
"Too many Americans in Nevada and throughout our nation are still out of work, and that is why Congress needs to remain focused on creating jobs.
"Republicans are sitting on a bipartisan bill that would create or save nearly 3 million American transportation jobs. The Senate passed this transportation jobs bill with 74 Democratic and Republican votes, and the House could pass it immediately if House leaders simply brought it to the floor.
"Instead of wasting time with short-term fixes and bending over backwards to accommodate the Tea Party's extreme demands, House Republicans should pass the Senate's bipartisan transportation jobs bill as soon as they return, and give certainty to the nearly three million Americans whose jobs depend on this measure."
