April 7, 2010 Washington, D.C. – Nevada Senator Harry Reid made the following statement today in honor of World Health Day, Wednesday, April 7: “I applaud the World Health Organization in its ‘1,000 Cities, 1,000 Lives’ campaign to raise awareness of serious health challenges in communities around the world. The organization has coordinated events in Nevada which provide information for disease prevention, immunization, nutrition, fitness and other community health issues. “Like the new health reform law that was passed last month, the World Health Organization carries such a strong emphasis on preventive health care. Early detection and preventive exercises are key, and now that Nevadans have better access to the care they need, they are given a better chance to live healthier lives. “World Health Day should serve as a reminder to all Nevadans and all Americans to remain committed to better health for themselves and their families.”
