April 9, 2010 Reno, NV – Nevada Senator Harry Reid announced that two Nevada Indian tribes will receive $62,296 from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to purchase equipment and improve facilities needed to provide food assistance to low-income families on and near Indian reservations. The Yerington Paiute Tribe will receive $61,046 and the Shoshone Paiute Tribes of the Duck Valley Indian Reservation will receive $2,250 through the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations. “This will benefit Nevadans who really need help in accessing safe, nutritious food,” Reid said. “I’ve always fought for the health and welfare of all 27 Indian tribes in Nevada, such as when we reauthorized tribal health care laws last month, and these dollars will provide further assistance.”
