April 10, 2010 Las Vegas, NV—Nevada Senator Harry Reid today sat down with minority and small business owners in Southern Nevada to discuss federal contracting opportunities and procedures necessary to become contractors. Reid was joined by summit co-hosts Nevada Small and Minority Business Summit, the Nevada Minority Supplier Development Council and Nevada Partners. Representatives from All U.S. Administrative Departments attended along with lending and procurement officers who discussed financing and grant opportunities. “This summit will create new opportunities for Nevada businesses to receive federal dollars and put more Nevadans back to work,” said Reid. “Small and minority owned businesses are hurting right now. But these companies are the bedrock of our state’s economy and their recovery will help our state recover. I am committed to making sure they get a fair shot at funds they need to help them succeed.”
