Reid Encourages Nevadans To Take Advantage Of Rebate Program On Energy Star Appliances

More than $2 million will be made available through the Recovery Act

April 13, 2010

Washington, DC -- Nevada Senator Harry Reid today encouraged Nevadans to take advantage of rebates on energy efficient appliances by making a rebate reservation beginning this Saturday.  As a result of The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, nearly $2.4 million will be made available to Nevadans who replace a household appliance with a new Energy Star appliance.  The program encourages residents to make the switch that will save them money, both immediately and over the life of the appliance in water and power costs.

“This is a terrific program that will help stimulate our economy and encourage Nevadans to purchase environmentally-friendly appliances,” Reid said.  “This is a win across the board because Nevada consumers will save money and help protect our state’s natural resources.”

In order to qualify for the first-come first-served rebate, Nevadans must purchase the appliance on or after April 17th and dispose of an old appliance.  For more information on the program and to make a rebate reservation, visit www.NevadaApplianceRebate.com.
