Washington, DC— Nevada Senator Harry Reid today announced more than $52,000 in grants for two Nevada fire departments that will allow for the purchase of fire safety equipment. The Shoshone Paiute Fire Department will receive $41,895 through the Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. The Central Lyon County Fire Protection will be awarded $10,860 from the Department of Agriculture Rural Development’s Community Facility Grant Program. “Firefighters in these communities will be more prepared and better able to respond to fire and related hazards thanks to these funds,” Reid said. “It’s imperative that we protect our public servants who risk their lives to keep all of us safe.” ###
