Reid Co-Sponsors Bill To Help Unemployed Veterans Find Jobs

April 21, 2010

Washington, D.C. – Nevada Senator Harry Reid signed on as a co-sponsor of the Veterans Employment Act of 2010.  This legislation would provide employment assistance programs to help veterans find work and help lower the unemployment rate among Iraq and Afghanistan veterans which is over 21 percent.

“Military men and women are some of the hardest hit by this recession.  They volunteered to serve our country, only to come home to a slowed economy where businesses have closed and unemployment rates are high,” said Reid. “This legislation will expand existing employment assistance programs to help veterans maximize their skill sets, prepare for the transition to the civilian workforce and obtain a stable job so they can provide for themselves and their families.”
