Reid Statement on President Obama's Visit to Reno

April 21, 2011

Beijing, China—Nevada Senator Harry Reid made the following statement on President Obama’s visit to Reno:

“I thank President Obama for coming to Nevada to discuss the importance of creating jobs and tackling the deficit. We need to cut wasteful spending and excess while helping the clean energy industry put Nevadans back to work by taking advantage of our abundant natural resources like wind, solar and geothermal energy. That's a responsible way to address our fiscal problems. However, we cannot afford the reckless proposals of those in Washington who advocate paying for more tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires by eliminating Medicare and benefits for Nevada veterans. “
