Reid Statement on Passage of Nevada National Guard Land Act

Southern Nevada Readiness Center Act affords land for important facility

April 29, 2008

Washington, DC – Nevada Senator Harry Reid today commended House passage of the Southern Nevada Readiness Center Act that the Senate passed three weeks ago. The provision was included in a larger lands package that now goes to President Bush for his signature:

“Nothing I do is more important than protecting Nevada’s families from the threats of our times. Our proud Nevada National Guard stands on the front line of this mission, and I will always work to ensure they have everything they need to do their job well. This legislation allows for the conveyance of the land on which the Guard’s new Southern Nevada Readiness Center stands. This new facility will help the Guard to be better prepared to respond to the needs of our state and federal governments.”
