April 30, 2009

Washington, DCNevada Senator Harry Reid today announced the appointment of Nevadan Carlos Ezeta to serve on the National Museum of the American Latino (NMAL) Commission. Ezeta will be one of 23 commissioners to study the creation of a museum in Washington, D.C., memorializing the contributions of U.S. Latinos:

“It is with great pleasure that I appointed Carlos Ezeta to serve as a commissioner for the National Museum of the American Latino. Carlos is a true public servant whose significant contributions as an educator and community leader make him an excellent addition to the commission. The U.S. Hispanic community has contributed greatly to the fabric of American society, and I look forward to the work and recommendations Carlos and his fellow commissioners will make.”

Ezeta is a Psychology professor at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) who has been recognized by the City of Las Vegas for his community service. He also serves as head of Counseling and Student Services at CSN.

Ezeta is one of 23 appointed commissioners who will study the viability of creating a museum in Washington, D.C. dedicated to highlighting the art, history and culture of U.S. Hispanics. The commissioners, which include Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria, will present Congress with an extensive plan of action and recommendations to make the museum a reality.
