May 16, 2011 Washington, DC -- Nevada Senator Harry Reid today met with eighth-grade students from St. Viator Catholic School in his Washington, D.C. office. More than 60 students and chaperones from the Las Vegas school traveled to Washington to learn its history and how the government works firsthand. “I was pleased to welcome these impressive young Nevadans to discuss the history of the United States government and our nation’s capital,” Reid said. “Visits to Washington, DC are a tremendous learning experience that bring what’s taught in the classroom to life. I encourage all Nevada students to become as engaged in government and their communities as the students from St. Viator Catholic School are.” St. Viator Catholic School, with students from kindergarten through eighth grade, is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Las Vegas and has educated young Nevadans since it was established in 1965. Students and faculty celebrate the feast day of St. Viator each October 21.
