Reid Statement On Bryce Harper Being Selected First Overall In MLB Draft

Reid calls Harper to congratulate him after the Nationals draft the Henderson resident

Washington, D.C.—Nevada Senator Harry Reid issued the following statement today after Henderson resident Bryce Harper was selected first overall in the 2010 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the Washington Nationals:

 

“Bryce Harper is a rare talent who we’re also proud to call a Nevadan,” Reid said.  “He’s displayed his exceptional abilities against the best competition at every amateur level, most recently at the College of Southern Nevada. We look forward to watching him and his older brother, Bryan, play in the professional ranks and hope that they enjoy long, successful careers.”
