June 9, 2009

Washington, D.C.—Nevada Senator Harry Reid made the following statement about Las Vegas entertainer Trina Johnson-Finn’s release from prison in Suriname. Johnson-Finn was arrested during a performance that had been falsely promoted by a third party and charged with fraud. After three months of detention she was acquitted on June 9, 2009.

“This is a very happy ending to what has been a terribly difficult time for Trina and her family.  My office has been in close contact with Trina’s husband, Raymond, as we worked with the US State Department to ensure that her case received fair treatment.  I am glad those efforts have paid off that that Trina is now on her way back home to Nevada.”
