Washington, DC – Nevada Senator Harry Reid today released the following statement after learning that two Nellis airmen were killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan on Wednesday: “I was deeply saddened to hear that Joel Gentz and David Smith, two men fighting for our country and based out of Nellis Air Force Base, were killed in the line of duty on Wednesday,” Reid said. “Joel and David were tasked with entering one of the most dangerous areas of Afghanistan. It’s because of their courage that we enjoy freedom every day in Nevada and throughout our country. I extend my sympathies to the families of these brave men who made the ultimate sacrifice and will not be forgotten.” ###
