Reid Statement On Job Creation Announcements

Expedia, Nevada Wind, announce plans to put more than 300 Nevadans back to work

June 18, 2010

Washington, DC – Nevada Senator Harry Reid today made the following statement on the news that Expedia and Nevada Wind announced plans to put Nevadans back to work.

“This is good news for Nevada on a day that we need it,” Reid said.  “It took many years for our economy to get into this hole and it’s going to take time and hard work to dig ourselves out.  Expansions and projects like this will help put Nevadans to work and are an important step in getting our economy back on track.”

Earlier today, the online travel company Expedia announced that by the end of June they will hire an additional 130 Nevadans to work in their Las Vegas office.  Nevada Wind announced today that because of funds from the Reid-led Recovery Act, they will soon break ground on a new wind power generating facility in Reno that will create 250 construction and permanent jobs.
