Reid Secures Nearly $3 Million For Job-Creating Transit Facility At UNLV

 Washington, D.C. – Nevada Senator Harry Reid announced today that University of Nevada, Las Vegas will receive $2,763,200 for the design and construction of a transit center on its campus. The new UNLV Transit Center will directly connect students, faculty and staff to the UNLV using the Regional Transportation Commission. In addition, this facility will serve a future campus shuttle service.

"This funding will help students, faculty and staff as UNLV become more efficient as they commute to class and to their jobs,”  Reid said."The design and construction of this new transit facility at UNLV will not only create jobs at a time when Nevada needs them most, but greatly benefit those who teach, live and learn at the university."

BACKGROUND:

•    This grant was awarded through the Department of Transportation on a competitive basis.

•    This grant will be used towards the architectural and engineering design of the transit facility. Following completion of this phase, the construction of the facility will begin.
