Washington, D.C.—Nevada Senator Harry Reid today announced half a million dollars from the economic recovery package for abandoned mine clean-up in White Pine County.  This funding is being released from the Department of Agriculture.  Restoring these old mine sites will create local jobs, improve local watersheds, safeguard wildlife habitat and close unsafe areas.

“This funding will help us address some of the highest priority abandoned mines in Nevada,” said Reid. “This is just one more example of how economic recovery funding is getting important projects done and creating jobs for Nevadans.”
