Washington, D.C. – Nevada Senator Harry Reid received the Order of the Golden Heart award from Filipino President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.  The award was established in 1954 to officially recognize distinguished service by foreign citizens on behalf of the Filipino people.

"I’d like to thank President Arroyo and the Embassy of the Philippines for this award,” Reid said.  “I’m honored and humbled.  I worked to pass legislation that restores benefits for Filipino veterans who fought under for the United States during World War II, and I will continue to help the Filipino community in any way I can.”
