Washington, D.C.— Nevada Senator Harry Reid today made the following statement on the increase of Nevada’s minimum wage, which takes effect on July 1st: “During this time of economic recovery it is important that Nevadans are paid fairly and equally. An increase in the minimum wage ensures that workers’ pay is more in line with the cost of living, while helping Nevada families pay their bills and put food on the table. This increase is just one piece of the puzzle. We need to continue working on initiatives that cut taxes for small businesses and invest in projects that will create jobs and put Nevadans back to work. The bill we are currently working on in the Senate will help in that regard and I urge my colleagues to join me in passing it.” ###
