Washington, D.C. – Nevada
Senators Harry Reid and John Ensign announced $1.5 million in Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) grants for the airports in Fallon and Silver Springs. Fallon Municipal
Airport will receive $1,511,351 to rehabilitate the runway and runway lighting,
while Silver Springs Airport will receive $80,750 to conduct an airport
drainage study to provide an analysis of alternative solutions to divert storm
water and to allow development on the north side of the airport. “These grants will help ensure the safety of Nevadans and
visitors who use our airports,” Reid said. “By making these upgrades,
both the Fallon and Silver Springs airports will meet current standards and be
sustainable for years to come.” “Safety is the chief concern for airports across our state,”
said Ensign. “These grants will help to ensure that the airports in
Fallon and Silver Springs continue to transport travelers to and from our great
state in a safe and reliable manner.” ###
